TCC Praises Boehner's Decision to Go to Court Against Obama

House Lawsuit Against Obama Is Correct Choice

“House Speaker John Boehner has made the right decision by proceeding with a lawsuit by the House against President Obama’s violations of the Constitution”, said Peter J. Thomas, Chairman of The Conservative Caucus (TCC).

“Today’s Supreme Court decision overturning the President’s unconstitutional recess appointments is a reminder that resorting to the Federal courts is one way for the House to hold the President accountable.  Just as the Supreme Court ruled that Congress was correct on recess appointments, it can also rule in favor of Congress on the many instances in which the President has invaded the legislative power.”

The Conservative Caucus has been urging the House to pass the STOP resolution (H Res 442), which would also have led to a lawsuit against Obama.

TCC has been critical of President Obama’s unilateral changing of laws relating to illegal immigrants, ObamaCare, foreign aid, and other matters.  (TCC has also pointed to the recess appointments as a violation of the Constitution.)  Article I of the U.S. Constitution grants all legislative power to Congress, with no exceptions for the President to replace Congress in that role.

The Conservative Caucus is a grass roots public policy action organization, formed in 1974.  It was active in defeating the SALT II Treaty, repealing the Catastrophic Coverage Act, blocking the Clinton health-care takeover, impeaching President Clinton, and stopping amnesty for illegal aliens.

The Conservative Caucus is a public policy organization, contributions to which are not tax deductible. The IRS has determined TCC to be a 501(c)(4) organization, exempt from Federal income tax. TCC can receive corporate donations.
