M. Stanton Evans, a founder of the modern conservative movement, died this week.
Evans was the chief author of the Sharon Statement, the founding principles of Young Americans for Freedom, in 1960 (a meeting also attended by ACL/TCC founder Howard Phillips). He was the author of many influential books. The final two, Blacklisted by History and Stalin's Secret Agents, detailed the extent of Communist penetration of the US government during the FDR-Truman years and are the best single source on that topic. He spoke at ACL's Constitution Day event following the publication of Blacklisted by History.
