Build the Wall Now

TCC Chairman Peter Thomas sent the following letter to the editor to newspapers across the U.S.

Dear editor:

When President Bill Clinton found that Congress was passing appropriations bills that did not contain all the spending he wanted, he vetoed those bills, shutting down the government until Congress gave him the funding he believed necessary.

It is time for President Trump to follow the example of Clinton.  He should veto appropriations until Congress gives him the funding to build a much-needed wall along the Mexican border.

We saw just a few weeks ago, when the border was attacked by illegal aliens crossing from Tijuana, that the current wall is inadequate.  While the border patrol was able to catch many of the invaders who came over the wall, some escaped into the interior of the United States.

We have laws limiting immigration, but the current barriers at the border are not sufficient for the enforcement of those laws.  A new and better wall is one essential component of border security, and President Trump should use every instrument provided by the Constitution to get the wall built.

Sincerely,

Peter J. Thomas
